We are committed to championing visionary work showcasing the LGBTQIA2S+ experience and ensuring its continued representation in Appalachia's evolving cultural landscape. Through direct investment and expanded opportunities, this fund supports groundbreaking artistic expression that inspires, challenges and enriches communities.
In 2024, after an overwhelming response, we were able to gift $150K to 30 grantees!
The Waymakers Collective is a community-driven funding initiative dedicated to empowering artistic and cultural leadership in Central Appalachia. We invest in artists, cultural organizations, and creative initiatives that bring new perspectives, strengthen regional identity, and expand access to resources.
Founded in 2022, Waymakers is committed to redefining philanthropic engagement by directly funding artistic innovation and sustainable cultural development. Our vision, embodied in Appalachian Futurism, champions creative collaboration, cultural resilience, and long-term investment in the arts.
By eliminating traditional barriers to funding, we ensure that creative voices shaping Appalachia's future have the support they need to thrive. This approach fosters partnerships built on trust, accessibility, and transformative impact.
